Persimmon Diseases & Deficiencies

The most common diseases of persimmons grown in California include:

  • Armillaria root rot (Armillaria mellea)
  • Gray mold (Botrytis cinerea)
  • Leaf spots and blights
  • Root and crown rot (Phytophthora spp.)
  • Wood decay or heart rots

Some environmental disorders of persimmons in California include:

  • Mineral deficiencies
  • Nutrient and mineral excess
  • Poor water management
  • Sunburn
